*1. What is a Test Link Box*
Also called Earth Inspection Housing, Earth Bar Box, or Disconnect Link Box.
Used to isolate the earth electrode from the main earth grid for periodic earth resistance testing without disconnecting equipment.

1. *Enclosure*: UV stabilized, flame retardant, transparent/ grey lid
2. *Link*: Tinned copper bar with 2 nos. M8/M10 SS bolts for easy opening
3. *Terminals*: 2 nos. brass/M12 terminals for main earth & electrode cable
4. *Gasket*: Neoprene gasket for dust & water proofing
5. *Gland Plate*: Knockouts + PG16/PG21 cable glands at bottom
6. *Mounting*: 4 nos. corner holes for wall/structure mounting
*4. Why Use It — IS 3043 Clause*
- *Clause 9.2.2*: “A test link shall be provided to disconnect earth electrode for testing”
- *Safety*: Test earth pit without shutting down plant
- *Compliance*: Required in solar plants, substations, DISCOM audits
- *Maintenance*: Yearly earth resistance check becomes 5-min job

- Near each earth pit, 300mm above ground
- Inside ACDB/DCDB room for common earth bar
- LA down conductor junction before earth pit
